Which SurgiMac Line Fits the Procedure

Match SurgiMac product lines to the procedure, then open the right collection. A buying guide for dental and surgical supplies.

A clinician shopping for dental surgical supplies does not need another product grid. They need to know which SurgiMac line covers the procedure in front of them, then which collection to open. The SurgiMac brand page is the one place that shows every house line together. This guide uses that page as the map, and it stops at the collection. Pack size, set time, blade number, and handle style are product facts. Read the listing before you order.

Shop the SurgiMac brand

The lines below were on the brand page on October 16, 2026. Instrument series are Air Series, Hexa Series, Slim Series, Titanium Black Series, Eco Series, and Pro Series. Named supply lines are MacCut, MacSuture, MacPrevent, MacSafe, MacBite, MacImpress, and AlgiMac. MacOrtho is linked from the same page under dental instruments. This guide does not invent a clinical indication, and it does not say one line replaces another.

Chart matching dental procedures to SurgiMac house lines

How do you match a procedure to a SurgiMac line?

Name the job first, then open one collection. A line is a catalog group, not a procedure protocol. Two SKUs in the same series can be different instruments.

Procedure or job Start with this house line What the collection actually lists
Extraction, elevation, and oral surgery Air Series, Hexa Series, or Pro Series Elevators, periosteal elevators, extracting forceps, needle holders, and retractors
Scaling, curettage, and periodontal instrumentation Air Series, Hexa Series, Slim Series, or Titanium Black Series Gracey curettes, Columbia curettes, scalers, and explorers
Restorative access and finishing Hexa Series, Slim Series, or Titanium Black Series Plastic filling instruments, burnishers, condensers, carvers, and explorers
Incision and blade handling MacCut, then Pro Series for the handle Sterile scalpel blades by number, and stainless-steel scalpel handles
Wound closure MacSuture, with a Pro Series or Air Series needle holder Absorbable and non-absorbable sutures with needles, sold by the box
Bite registration MacBite Vinyl polysiloxane bite-registration cartridges
Final impressions MacImpress Heavy-body, medium-body, light-body, and monophase VPS cartridges
Preliminary impressions AlgiMac A fast-set alginate-substitute cartridge
Fluoride varnish MacPrevent 5% sodium fluoride varnish with TCP in unit doses
Chairside barriers and suction MacSafe Exam gloves, isolation gowns, evacuator tips, and applicators

Use the row as a starting point. If the listing does not name the size, material, or pack you need, stop and read a different SKU rather than treating the line as interchangeable.

Which line covers extraction and oral surgery?

Open an instrument series, not a material line. Air Series lists root elevators, spade elevators, a Cryer elevator, a Miller surgical curette, extracting forceps, and a Castroviejo needle holder. Hexa Series lists a Molt periosteal elevator with a hollow handle, plus explorers, Gracey curettes, and a plastic filling instrument. Pro Series lists extracting forceps, a spade elevator, a cross-bar elevator, a Weitlaner retractor, a bone-grafting syringe, and a needle holder with tungsten-carbide serrated jaws.

Choose by the instrument name on the card. An elevator and a forceps are not substitutes because they share a series. Eco Series is the broader stainless-steel tray for the same operatory: Iris scissors, Adson tissue forceps, a cheek retractor, a scalpel handle, and a rubber-dam clamp forceps. It is not a dedicated extraction set.

Which line covers scaling and periodontal curettage?

Gracey curettes and scalers show up in more than one series. Air Series lists a Columbia University curette. Hexa Series lists Gracey curettes, an ODU explorer, and a Towner-Jacquette scaler. Slim Series is the compact-handle profile, with explorers, a plastic filling instrument, and burnishers for tight access. Titanium Black Series lists Gracey curettes and scissors with a black coating meant to cut glare.

The series is a handle and finish choice. The curette number on the listing is the clinical choice. Do not pick a series because a blog said it is "for perio" and then assume every SKU in it is a scaler.

Which line covers restorative access?

Restorative hand instruments sit in the same series, sorted by handle. Hexa Series lists a plastic filling instrument, a band pusher and scaler, and an acorn burnisher. Slim Series lists condensers, a cleoid-discoid carver, ball burnishers, and a Gregg plastic filling instrument. Titanium Black Series lists a composite instrument with black-coated tips and a plastic filling instrument.

Explorers in Hexa Series and Slim Series are diagnostic instruments, including endodontic explorers. They are not filling instruments. Match the name on the product, then confirm the tip size in the listing.

Which line covers blades, handles, and wound closure?

MacCut is the surgical-blade line. The collection lists sterile stainless-steel and carbon-steel scalpel blades by number, including #10, #11, #12, #15, and #15C, sold by the box. A blade number is not a procedure assignment. Pick the number the operator already uses, and read whether the card says stainless steel or carbon steel.

The handle is separate. Pro Series lists stainless-steel scalpel handles, including #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, and #8, some with a ruler. Eco Series also lists a #3 scalpel handle. Pair the MacCut blade with the handle the listing is made for. Do not assume every handle accepts every blade number.

MacSuture is the closure line. The collection lists absorbable sutures, including PGA, chromic catgut, plain catgut, polydioxanone, poliglecaprone, and polyglactin 910, and non-absorbable sutures, including polypropylene and silk. Cards name the size, length, needle, and box count. Needle holders that go with those sutures are in Pro Series and Air Series, not in the suture collection.

Which line covers bite registration and impressions?

Keep these three lines apart. They are all cartridges, and they are not the same material job.

  1. MacBite is vinyl polysiloxane bite-registration material. Listings include fast set, super fast set, and regular set, in 50 mL cartridges, some packed with mixing tips.
  2. MacImpress is the VPS impression line: heavy body, medium body, light body, and monophase, in fast set and regular set, sold as 50 mL cartridges.
  3. AlgiMac is a fast-set alginate substitute in a 50 mL cartridge, for preliminary impressions. The live collection is that one material, not a full impression system.

Set time and body are on the product title. A fast-set bite registration does not substitute for a heavy-body impression, and an alginate substitute does not substitute for either.

Which line covers prevention and chairside barriers?

MacPrevent is 5% sodium fluoride varnish with TCP, in 0.4 mL unit doses. The collection lists flavor variants, including mint, bubblegum, vanilla, and caramel. That is the preventive line. It is not a prophy paste and it is not a restorative material.

MacSafe is the disposable barrier and suction line. Listings include nitrile exam gloves, an isolation gown, high-volume evacuator tips, surgical aspirating tips, and micro applicators. Glove brand names on those cards include MacSoft and MacFit. Read the chemo-tested claim, the size, and the box count on the glove you open. Do not treat every glove in the collection as the same exam glove.

What should you do after you pick a line?

Open the collection, then the SKU. Use this order.

  1. Name the job in clinical terms: elevator, Gracey curette, scalpel blade, suture, bite registration, impression, fluoride varnish, or exam glove.
  2. Open the house line from the table. If you still need the full map, go back to the SurgiMac brand page, which is the only URL that shows every house line together.
  3. Read the listing fields that change the order: instrument number, blade number, handle style, suture size and needle, body and set time, fluoride flavor, glove size, and pack count.
  4. Stop if a required field is missing. Two products in one line are not interchangeable just because they share the line name.

Searches for a nearby dental supply store, or for the SurgiMac name alone, are a different decision. This guide is only the match between a procedure and a house line.
