The 1/2 Sugarman Periodontal File is a specialized, double-ended (DE) instrument designed for safe and controlled interproximal bone reduction, particularly during procedures like crown lengthening. This file features working ends with distinct Mesial/Distal angulations, allowing for optimal access to the bone peaks between teeth.
Like the Schluger file, the Sugarman file is essential when rotary burs cannot safely reach tight interproximal spaces (e.g., in posterior molars). It operates via a gradual back-and-forth or in-and-out motion. The file is constructed with two cutting sides and a crucial flat, non-cutting side to shield the adjacent tooth structure from damage. Crafted from surgical stainless steel with a 10mm hollow handle for controlled manipulation, this instrument is completely sterilizable.
