To gain straight-line access: SS White EndoGuide burs are funnel-shaped, designed to offer an accurate straight-line access path and better tactile sense. The SS White Endo Safe End Burs are side-cutting only, with a non-cutting tip for lateral expansion.
To gain access through metal coping material: Use appropriate sized round carbide operative burs (FG #4, FG #6 etc.) or Great White round burs (both standard and surgical length shanks available).
To gain access through a PFM crown, penetrate the porcelain with a round diamond and then switch to a Great White round bur to access the metal coping material. NOTE: Initial access and de-roofing in molars should be performed with either the Great White #2 Bur or Great White Z Diamonds supplied in the EndoGuide Anterior/Bicuspid Kit for Endodontic Access and Exploration, order #18052.
Enlargement of initial endodontic access is often needed to gain straight-line access to all canals. Endo Safe End instruments are designed for lateral endodontic access enlargement, and will cut only laterally and not apically.
